Not at all! While professional equipment can enhance your photography, it's not a requirement. Many photographers on KiteLens use good smartphones or basic cameras to capture stunning images.

We strongly recommend that you inform surfers that you took photos of them, so you can get their explicit permission and let them know they can find the photos on KiteLens. The rules around taking photos of people outdoors vary by country. In most countries, you can take photos of anyone in public without their explicit permission. However, uploading those images online for sale is often a legal grey area. We strongly recommend checking the regulations of the country you operate in. By doing so, you can ensure compliance and avoid any legal issues. You must have explicit consent from the parents or guardians before taking, selling or purchasing pictures of minors. This is to ensure the protection of the child and to comply with legal requirements.

Registering to the platform is completely free. The only "cost" is a flat 10% platform fee deducted from the sale price at the time of purchase. If a kiteschool is tagged in the pictures/videos, the school may also take an additional commission (which they set themselves). You can always see what a school's commission is before tagging them during upload.

When you upload your media, you set the price in euros (€). Riders browsing the site will see prices in euros, and, where available, also in their local currency for reference. At checkout, riders can choose to pay either in euros (their bank may apply a conversion fee) or, when supported, directly in their local currency using an exchange rate provided by our payment partner.
As a photographer, your earnings are credited to your KiteLens balance in euros. When withdrawing funds, you can choose to withdraw in euros (your bank may apply a conversion fee) or in your local currency (our payment provider will apply their exchange rate and fee).

You have full control over pricing. In your professional dashboard, you can set your own prices for your products, and we'll display them for you. Prices vary a lot. Good quality pictures tend to be sold for 10-20€, smartphone photos for less and professional photos for much more.

Once your content is purchased, the payment is available for withdrawal from your Kitelens account to your bank account within a short period time and without complications.

No, there's no limit! You can upload as many photos and videos as you like, allowing you to showcase your entire portfolio to potential buyers. Still, you might not want to overwhelm your potential clients with 1 TB of pictures and videos, to ensure this only 1GB of file can be upload it at a time. We suggest uploading your best and most recent content for better chances of sales. Note that we do not let photographers upload in RAW format as users do not require it.

Yes! KiteLens offers both options. You can upload pictures and videos to public spots where they can be found and purchased individually by anyone. Alternatively, you can create a Private Album, set a single price for the entire collection, and share a direct link with a specific client. Private albums are hidden from public search.
